Terms of Service

This document is provided in English. The English text is the legally binding version.

Last updated: 15 August 2026 · Version 2

1. Who we are

CIPHER is the online dating and discovery service operated by AITailor OÜ, a company established in Estonia, at cipherdate.me (“AITailor OÜ”, “CIPHER”, “the site”, “we”). We set these terms and the rules for using the service, and by using the site you accept them. You can reach us, including for questions about these terms or about content decisions, at contact@cipherdate.me. This is also our single point of contact for members and authorities under Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act); you can communicate with us in English or Estonian.

2. What CIPHER is

CIPHER is an online dating and discovery service for adults. We suggest people to you based on compatibility, and we host the spaces where you interact: private one-to-one chats, a community feed, a personals board and live rooms. You appear to others under a chosen handle, not your legal name, and your photos stay hidden from a new match, opening step by step as your mutual conversation builds trust (the reveal thresholds are part of how the service works). Some features are only available with a paid Pro membership (section 5).

CIPHER hosts content created by its members. We do not pre-approve members and we cannot guarantee anyone’s identity, intentions or behaviour. Meet new people carefully, in public places first, and never send money to someone you met here.

3. Age and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use CIPHER. This is an adult service and parts of it contain sexually explicit material. When you register you must confirm your age and accept these terms; we refuse registration without both. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it. Misstating your age is a material breach of these terms.

4. Your account

  • One account per person, created for yourself, with a working email address.
  • Your handle must be unique; we may refuse or reclaim handles that impersonate others or are unlawful.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret and for what happens through your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible (see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is erased).

5. Pro membership, prices and payment

Pro is a paid membership that unlocks additional features, such as live rooms, matched-member feeds, seeing who liked you and higher matching limits. On the personals board every member can publish an advert; a free member’s advert runs for a limited period and a waiting interval applies between posts, while a Pro advert does not expire, is listed first and has no waiting interval. Viewing explicit-rated media without blurring also requires Pro and is off by default: each member switches it on separately for each of their matches, it applies only inside that conversation and that match’s personal feed, and it never applies in the public areas of the service. The exact features, prices (including VAT) and the length of the period are shown on the membership page before you buy.

Every purchase is a single, one-off payment. Membership runs for the period you bought — currently one month or two weeks — and then simply ends. Nothing renews automatically, no standing order or mandate is created, and you are never charged again unless you choose to buy again. There is therefore nothing to cancel: if you do nothing, the membership lapses on the date shown on your membership page. We send a reminder before that date.

If you buy again while your membership is still running, the new period is added on top of the time you have left — renewing early never costs you days. Payment is handled by our payment provider (LHV Pank’s payment gateway) using bank links or cards; we never see or store your bank credentials or card number. Payments made through a bank link are confirmed by your bank, which can take a short time: your membership activates as soon as that confirmation arrives.

6. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason by emailing contact@cipherdate.me with an unambiguous statement (your account email and the purchase concerned). Before each purchase we ask you to confirm that you want the service to start immediately and that you understand you then lose this right of withdrawal; if you do not confirm it, we cannot take the payment.

If you withdraw despite that confirmation, we refund the price minus a proportional amount for the days already provided. Purchased credits (“hearts”, section 7) that you have already spent count as service already provided; unspent hearts from the purchase are refunded in full.

7. Hearts

Hearts are virtual credits usable only inside CIPHER. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or paid out, and expire with your account. We may also grant hearts free of charge (for example as goodwill); granted hearts are never refundable.

8. What is not allowed

You must not use CIPHER to create, share, request or link to:

  • any sexual content involving minors, or any sexual interest in minors — zero tolerance: such material is blocked on upload, preserved as sealed evidence, and, after review, reported to the competent authorities;
  • content depicting or describing non-consensual acts, or intimate images of any person shared without their consent;
  • offers or requests for paid sexual services, escorting or other commercial sexual activity;
  • advertising, selling or soliciting of any goods or services — the personals board is for people, not commerce;
  • anything otherwise illegal in the EU or in your country: threats, blackmail, drugs trade, weapons, human trafficking, incitement to violence or hatred;
  • another person’s private data (doxxing), or impersonation of any person or of CIPHER staff.

You also must not:

  • threaten, harass, stalk, intimidate, demean, degrade or abuse other members, direct hateful or degrading slurs at them, or continue contact after being asked to stop;
  • include contact details (phone numbers, emails, social handles, links) in personal adverts or in opening responses to them — these are exchanged later, inside a mutual chat, when both sides choose to;
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated access, probe or overload the service, or circumvent access controls, screening, paywalls or bans (including by creating new accounts);
  • upload malware or content you have no right to share.

Consensual adult content between adults is allowed where the feature permits it; explicit material is only shown to members who are eligible to see it, is always blurred in the public areas of the service, and is shown unblurred only to a member who has chosen that for the specific match (section 5).

9. Your content and licence

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant us the non-exclusive, worldwide licence needed to operate the service: to store, process, adapt for display (for example blurred or resized previews) and show your content to the members it is intended for, until you delete it or your account. You warrant that you have the rights to what you post and that every person depicted is an adult who consented to the material being shared here. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models.

10. Automated screening and moderation

To keep the service lawful and safe we use automated tools together with human review (Article 14(1) DSA disclosure):

  • Images are automatically classified before publication. An image the classifier flags as indicating child sexual abuse is refused on upload and never published; it is sealed as evidence and escalated to a designated staff reviewer, who — after human verification — reports confirmed cases to the competent authorities. Other adult material is admitted with an audience rating that controls who can view it. Published images can additionally be reviewed by our moderators.
  • Text is automatically screened before anyone sees it. Personal adverts and profile bio texts are checked for contact details, commercial solicitation — including offers of paid sexual services or adult media — and illegal asks; opening responses to adverts and comments on feed posts are additionally checked for insulting, demeaning, threatening or degrading language. An advert that fails screening is held for human review — you see its “in review” status, a moderator makes the final decision, and posting or deleting is locked until then. A bio that fails screening is not saved. An opening response or comment that fails screening is not delivered or published; it is held for human review.
  • Members can report content and profiles, and can block another member at any time without giving a reason — a blocked pair no longer sees each other’s content or profile anywhere on the service. Reports go to human moderators. Moderators can remove content and, for serious or repeated violations, staff can suspend or ban accounts.

If we remove your content or restrict your account, you can contest the decision by writing to contact@cipherdate.me with the details; a human will review it. Nothing in this section limits your right to complain to a court or authority.

11. Termination

You can end this agreement at any time by deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms — in particular section 8 — or where the law requires it. Conduct that threatens, harasses, intimidates, demeans, degrades or abuses another member is a serious breach: we may suspend the account or permanently ban you immediately and without prior notice. For other severe cases (illegal content, endangering others, fraud) we may also act immediately; otherwise we will tell you the reason.

A suspension or ban imposed because you broke these terms does not entitle you to any refund: any remaining paid membership period and any unspent hearts are forfeited. We refund the unused part of a paid period only where we end your membership without you being at fault — for example if we discontinue the service.

12. Changes

We keep improving CIPHER and may change or discontinue features. We may amend these terms for good reason (legal changes, new features, abuse prevention). Amended terms get a new version number and you will be asked to review and accept them before continuing to use the service; if you do not accept, you can delete your account. Matching results are inherently not guaranteed — we promise the service, not a particular person.

13. Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under any mandatory statutory liability. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties and only up to the damage typical and foreseeable for a service like this. We are not liable for the conduct of members, online or offline. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you, including the conformity remedies of Directive (EU) 2019/770.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Estonian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may sue and be sued in the courts of that country. You can also raise a dispute with the consumer dispute resolution body competent for you (in Estonia: the Consumer Disputes Committee at the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority, ttja.ee).
